Comments

There were four games this year that stood head and shoulders above the rest for me, and of those four, two stood out significantly. To be honest, it was a pretty disappointing year when three of my top four games are sequels, prequels, or “spiritual sequels.” In fact, I didn’t feel that my top three games were any better than their predecessors, Demon’s Souls, Portal, and The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. It’s not that I have anything against sequels, but I wish we had more original content. My number four pick, Shadows of the Damned, may have been a new IP, but felt awful familiar mechanically. Perhaps the only game I played this year that really felt unlike anything I’d played before was Catherine, which almost made my list but had too many flaws for me to place it on here. In short; this year didn’t have its Francis York Morgan.
