Build your very own (miniature) arcade cabinet

Cupcade is a Raspberry Pi-powered mini arcade game kit from Adafruit that can play classic 80s games and easily fits in your bag. It combines a PiTFT 2.8″ display, mini thumbstick, mini arcade push buttons, and a number of other components.

It features a laser cut case, power adapter, and a pre-burned SD card that is plug-and-play ready. Those putting the kit together need to provide a Raspberry Pi model B, a soldering iron, solder, wire, basic electronic hand tools, and tape.

There are four buttons in total, two next to the joystick for “fire” and “jump” and two in front for “coin” and “start”. The Adafruit team played lots of classic arcade games, including Ms. Pacman, Galaga, Donkey Kong, Arkanoid, and DigDug.

A version of the Cupcade with more of the circuitry pre-built is planned for the future. You can view the mini arcade game kit in the video below:
