Kinect won’t be used for ads, the Angry Birds theme park, & consoles kinda become more energy efficient

In the state of California alone, current generation consoles burn through 1,100 gigawatts a year. That’s a lot of watts, one billion of them to be precise, or enough to employ a medium-sized power plant. The good news is that the Xbox One and Playstation 4 will be more efficient when running tasks not related to games, such as streaming Netflix. The bad? Well, no one buys a console for Netflix. 

Over at Wired, Daniel Feit writes about the burgeoning indie scene in Tokyo, Japan. As they have in West, mega-corporation Sony is lending a helping hand to the little guys. What does indie mean again?

The Angry Birds theme park has hatched in the Zhejiang province of China. Yes, it just looks like a crowded playground with Angry Birds licensing. But there does appear to be a life-sized catapult on the premises.
