Zombies are the perfect antagonist. They are beyond salvation, are impossible to reason with, and can be given supernatural abilities that exacerbate our worst death fears. Former Call of Duty Creative Strategist Robert Bowling has announced his new game will delve into the primal fears provoked by zombies. The game is called Human Element and will be the first project from Bowling’s newly formed studio Robotoki.
“Their greatest strength is the fear that [zombies] instill in us, the survivors, that unreasonable fear,” Bowling said in an interview with Game Informer. “Unreasonable fear that leads us to do unreasonable things to survive.”
The game will be built around three different classes of play: Action, Intelligence, and Stealth. It will also offer three different identity scenarios, which will involve traveling through the zombie wastes alone, with an adult partner, or with a child.
“How you choose to start in the world will determine how you can engage and impacts the scenarios you will be presented with on a physical and morality level,” Bowling explained.
How all of these general ideas will work in specific is still to be determined as the game isn’t scheduled for release until 2015. The company is targeting next-generation consoles, PC, mobile, and tablets.
