48 Pixeles isn’t just worth checking out because of the gorgeous pixel art taken from classic games. The artist who sometimes goes by “48” has created LGBT pixel fan fiction, and the results are beautiful, warm, and sometimes a bit cheeky. Famed indie developer Anna Anthropy led us to it.
“what i particularly like about the blog is that most of the sprites aren’t the heroes or major characters of their games, but NPCs, walk-on roles, voiceless characters who normally exist only to punch and be punched by the protagonist. in their five seconds of screen-time, there’s no time for them to love, to cruise, to make a romantic connection. the author of this blog has given these supporting characters private lives, and us a glimpse at them.”
