KAMI (iOS)

BY STATE OF PLAY GAMES

The craft of paper-making may be a lost art in our digital climate, but at least we have gorgeous paper-craft themed games to dazzle us with retina graphics!Kami is one such product, a pretty puzzler about weaving textured strips of paper. You can almost feel the mulberry fibers.

Perfect for: incentivized digital scrap-booking, washi washers, online Home Ec. classes

Playtime: a trip to grandma’s

LILLY LOOKING THROUGH (STEAM, PC, MAC, LINUX)

BY GEETA GAMES

Amidst the coming wall of noise, Lilly is a tiny glimmer of quietude. The lush environments and obscure visual puzzles offer a rare experience these days: to observe, learn, and solve without a pestering tagalong’s helpful (read: irritating) chatter. The hook here is chronological, as your magical goggles let you see the world as it once was. If only Lasik were so effective.

Perfect for: adrenaline-phobes, point-and-click-ophiles, those still mourning the loss of LucasArts

Playtime: around five hours

PAPA SANGRE II (iOS)

BY SOMETHIN’ ELSE

Close your eyes. This is what Papa Sangre 2 looks like. Developer Somethin’ Else knows the most vivid monsters are the ones we make up in our head, and so they let us do the hard work. Footsteps and far-off cries sound in the distance. We move toward them, or away, imagining the toothy evil at our heals. A fitting chaser for Día de Muertos.

Perfest for: when the power goes out, long commutes in very dark tunnels, fans of Eddard Stark’s voice

Playtime: Over 8 hours
