Southern Rap Map #5: Pill

In today’s installment of the Rap Map, we chat with Pill, the Atlanta trap-rapper signed to Rick Ross’s Maybach Music Group, discussing his favorite games, what a Pill videogame might look like, and he divulges that Rick Ross owns an Atari. Seriously.

Pill, are you a gamer?
Yeah, I game here and there. I’m not a game freak, but I like Madden, I like NBA, you know I like that Mortal Kombat. Gears of War 2 is pretty dope.

What’d you play when you were younger?
I played a lot of Tecmo Bowl. A lot of Mario, Mario Kart, Ninja Gaiden, Contra, Duck Hunt on Nintendo. I played a lot of different games over the years. I can’t really recall all of them, but, um, Ninja Gaiden and Contra were some of my favorites.

Do you ever play with other rappers now?
Me and Wale, me and Meek Mill, Rick Ross, we all play on the tour bus sometimes. We play a lot of Street Fighter

Is Rick Ross good at videogames?
Yeah, he plays videogames.

But is he good?
All of us are pretty decent at it, because everybody plays games, y’know? You go to Ross’s house and he’s got every game you can name from Nintendo to Atari to arcade games to PS3 to Wii, every kind of videogame [laughs]

So when you rap on a track with the Maybach guys vs. playing games with them, how is that relationship different?
It’s a bond there. You cool with them, so y’all can do whatever, you feel me? It is what it is, man, when you’ve got a relationship with them you’re going to have a good time.

So would you ever allow yourself to be in a videogame?
Of course, I would love that.

If there was a Pill videogame, what would it be like?
It would probably be an action-packed trap game. Yeah.
