Comments

There are games on this list that are at times mechanically broken (or, worse, uninteresting), narratively vacant, and questionably inclusive. One is a typing game. Almost all of them have inspired me to think about what I want from games and what games want from me. Give me ambitious trainwrecks, games whose flaws underline others’ strengths, and beautiful messes.
