Chillwave impresario Washed Out loves Angry Birds

In a recent interview with Pitchfork, Ernest Greene, who releases music under the name Washed Out and came to prominence after releasing homemade tracks on Myspace from his bedroom in rural Georgia, confessed to crushing a pig or two while on tour.

I have an iPhone so I’ll play games quite a bit on tour. I’ve definitely moved through Angry Birds and Cut the Rope. There’s a newer one called Tiny Wings, which is fun. And then there’s also this role-playing game called Sword & Sorcery EP, which is amazing; the graphics have this retro feel, and the music is really good.

Elsewhere in the article, he mentions Terrence Malick’s new film The Tree of Life, along with a book called Creative Intuition in Art and Poetry, by Jacques Maritain. That settles it: games are art. Or at least nice diversions while on the road. Washed Out’s new album, Within and Without, released on July 12.
