As a team of two Russian and one American astronauts blasted through the Earth’s atmosphere towards the International Space Station on Monday, they had their eyes not on the control panel, as you’d expect, but on Angry Birds. This wasn’t a case of being distracted by mobile games. The astronauts dangled a red plush Angry Bird toy from a string in order to let them know when they reached zero gravity.

According to one of the astronauts, his 5-year old daughter picked the toy.
