Indie Game: The Movie to screen at Sundance.

Indie Game: The Movie, a documentary about the growing indie game scene, will be premiering at the 2012 Sundance film festival. The directors, Lisanne Pajot and James Swirsky, announced that the film will be at the prestigious film festival beating out thousands of other submissions to be one of the 14 shown.

“We are exceptionally thrilled, humbled and, actually, kind of numbed by this honor. It’s surreal to think that Indie Game: The Movie has been invited to the same festival that introduced the world to the likes of Super Size Me, Born Into Brothels, Man on Wire, The Cove and Waiting for Superman… that’s a heavy club to think about joining,” Pajot and Swirsky said in a statement.

The film follows indie game developers Edmund McMillen and Tommy Refenes (Super Meat Boy), Phil Fish (Fez), and Jonathan Blow (Braid), and showcases how games are starting to become a form of personal expression. Our own Jamin Warren is one of the many people interviewed. Sundance will take place on January 19-29 in Park City, Utah.
