National Endowment for the Arts to start grants for videogame-related projects

This is exciting. That means things like Cory Arcangel’s upcoming Whitney show “Pro Tools” or the work of Feng Mengbo (above) could see some new funding sources. Gamasutra reports:

The National Endowment for the Arts, a U.S. government agency that offers funding for art projects and exhibitions, is now offering grants across a variety of video game related projects.

The Arts on Radio and Television category has now been replaced by Arts in Media, which expands the parameters to include mobile technology, digital games and other gaming platforms.

The category now supports all available media platforms, all interactive and mobile technologies, digital games, and arts content that is delivered via satellite, along with the original radio and television guidelines.
