PBS clip explains why Let’s Play videos are so huge

To most people, the idea of watching a stranger play a video game for hours seems counterintuitive. I mean, why watch others when you can play yourself, right?

But “Let’s Play” videos of individual’s recorded and commentated run-throughs are actually quite popular. Let’s Play Video creator Pewdiepie (above) currently holds the record for most subscribers, with over 12 million subscribers. That’s more than Justin Bieber and Katy Perry.
