Play the 250-card The Metagame this Sunday in N.Y.C.

This Sunday, if you’re in the N.Y.C. area, we highly recommend that you drop by the Commonwealth Bar, located on 497 Fifth Avenue, for a night of alcohol and friendly debate playing The Metagame. From 7:30 to 10 P.M., game designers Colleen Macklin, John Sharp, and Eric Zimmerman, collectively known as Local No. 12, will be demoing their 250 card deck.

The Metagame is a game about debate, with flexible sets of rules, and was once played by 2,500 people at once in San Francisco. Just one of the many possible questions you could be asked to debate is this: which game is more of a sport, StarCraft or Street Fighter 2? In this way, The Metagame is similar to another of Zimmerman’s projects Interference, an awesome game where two teams debate over the attributes of boardgames. But there is more to it than parleying about games. This is social interaction gamified in the best possible way.
