Radio the Universe mixes Legend of Zelda with NY’s retrofuture Chinatown

The Kickstarter campaign for Radio The Universe seems to defy all the conventions of the crowd-funding site. There’s no dialogue in the video, there’s no name for the creator, and the pitch adds this amazing bullet about gameplay: “Players who die in-game die in real life.” That seems a little bit severe, but, hey man, art is painful.

Nonetheless, Radio is a stylized little number, pulling strong cues from Blade Runner while maintaing some of the RPG tropes that made Secret of Mana so compelling. It’s already funded five times over so at this point, we’re just waiting for the damn thing. Totally adding the Kill Screen’s curated page on Kickstarter.

There’s something strange happening with 16-bit games of this ilk such as STEALER (below). Needs a name….
