The Witcher developer announces next "mature" project will be Cyberpunk.

The Witcher developer CD Projekt released a lone screenshot of their next project, based on Cyberpunk, a pen and paper role-playing game designed Mike Pondsmith. The studio claims the game is being made “for mature and demanding players who expect to be treated seriously.” In the language of videogame doublespeak this means there will be topless women, skill trees, and a few irreversible decisions to make.

The word “mature” is surely one of the most abused in the videogame world, and it’s a safe bet those who claim it for their work as likely to be the worst offenders. Perhaps the only thing more boring than an elaborate level-based role playing game passing as mature because it has complicated combat and shows nipples is news that the follow-up will be science fiction instead of fantasy.

According to the comapny’s press release:

Players will experience the world through their own, unique characters chosen from different classes – be they blood-thirsty mercenaries or cunning hackers – that they will equip with vast selection of cybernetic implants and deadly weapons. As in the Witcher series, players will face morally ambiguous choices, their actions influencing events in the world at large and the fate of the individuals they encounter.
