An upcoming game about finding out your neighbor’s darkest secrets

You might be lucky enough to live in a lovely neighborhood, surrounded by friendly people who help one and another and come together during times of grief. However, even among these quite communities (perhaps especially so) there is that one person that always seems to be hiding something from everyone … something out of the ordinary. You might be too shy or too scared to ask them directly, but you can break into their house and investigate for yourself in Dynamic Pixel’s upcoming stealth-horror game Hello Neighbor. Hello Neighbor has been in the works for a little over a year but recently reached a good enough position that…

Butt Sniffin Pugs, because we all need to sniff more dog butts

There are hundreds of dog breeds, originating from different parts of the world, big and small, hairy and bald. However, I think we can all agree that pugs are one of the cutest dog breeds out there, right? Don’t answer that, as the Phoenix-based studio SpaceBeagles will back me up on this: the team is making a game about pugs sniffing each other’s butts. Yeah, you read that right, don’t worry, I’ll explain. Now on Kickstarter, Butt Sniffin Pugs is a co-op exploration game where you roam around Central Bark in the middle of New Yorkie City, making little pug friends. You can…

An upcoming game about discovering who you are while hitchhiking

Whenever you set on a trip across the United States, or any country in fact, more often than not you’ll encounter a person or two standing at the side of the highway, waving for you to stop and give them a ride. Perhaps you hesitate since you don’t know who they are: what’s their background and what have they done in their lives? But what happens if even they don’t know who they are and want your help in answering that question. This is the starting point of Patrick Rau’s latest game. He’s the founder of kunst-stoff, and the creator of several award-winning games, and was…

I Love Fur lets you pet the coats of imaginary creatures

Most people have owned a pet at some point in their life. And even if you haven’t, you’re probably familiar with the passion that erupts inside children when they see a fluffy dog or a well-groomed cat—they must be smothered with love, their fur tousled and stroked to make them feel good. But children don’t always want to pet normal creatures, and sometimes their imagination runs wild with dreams of petting dragons, unicorns, or perhaps something slightly more in reach like a polar bear. Well, Nina Geometrieva, an artist located in Singapore, decided to create an iOS app that lets you pet…

Want more Firewatch? It’s getting two new game modes soon

Campo Santo has been sorta laying low since the release of Firewatch earlier this year. But that time is over. The studio has now decided it’s about time to deliver DLC for the game in the form of two new and much-requested modes. The announcement came alongside the Xbox One version’s reveal, which arrives on September 21st. The two new modes are an Audio Tour, which is a mix of scavenger hunt missions and development diaries. It’s going to be implemented in the game’s main storyline from the beginning by giving the protagonist, Henry, a Walkman and headphones before he heads out into the wilderness.…

The Naked Game isn’t quite what it sounds like

Ever since Hideo Kojima’s ambitious demo, P.T. (2014), got cancelled there has been a slew of similar games announced, all looking to carry its torch. Some of them have since been cancelled, while others are still ostensibly in the throes of development, with rare updates on how things are going. However, an eight-person team based in the Czech Republic were recently able to get their P.T.-inspired game through Steam Greenlight. Malkia, a game about the struggles of an African businesswoman

HELP: The Game is a recent project that saw 11 videogame studios—including Angry Birds creator Rovio and the studio behind the upcoming Dead Island 2, Sumo Digital—team up with the WarChild organization. The idea was for each studio to design a game that could then be bundled and sold together. All the earnings from the game bundle go directly to aid African children. Out of the games in that bundle, one of those to stand out is called Malkia, and was made by Sports Interactive Studios. It’s set in the imaginary world of Kovi but takes real-world inspiration from countries such as Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic…
