Papetura sure is made out of paper. In the game’s opening shot alone there are sheets of it: curled into pulsing fingers like ocean waves or quilted grass, twee spiraling silhouettes proffering the shape of local flora. Devoid of every color but white, and with only these paper shapes suggesting the environment, it’s difficult to say exactly where Pape and Tura have awoken. Digging into State of Play’s paper-craft world.
Lumino City finally has a release date. We’ve been tracking the game for awhile. First we discussed the British origins of the beautifully handcrafted game, where “warmth” and “serendipity” encompassed the design process and a release date was still a fuzzy, far-off idea. Then we went on a whimsical tour through the real-life papercraft set of the game. Now we can report that it will be available for Mac & PC via Steam on December 3rd, 2014. For the videogame map enthusiast, there would be nothing sweeter than hanging this diorama of the overworld from A Link to the Past over the mantle, at least until your significant other made you remove it. The miniature, 1:1, 3D model is handsomely constructed of paper and is easily framed in a deep-seated box to display. You can almost hear the overworld theme just looking at it.
