O Come All Ye Faithful, Overwatch Holiday Skins are here

After a long and trying year, the holiday season is almost upon us. That means it’s time to put aside our cares and burdens and come together, one and all, to gawk at some absolutely sick new Overwatch skins.

Overwatch’s holiday update, Winter Wonderland, was released today, and will run until January 2nd. Two maps, King’s Row and Hanamura, have gotten a dusting of snow, and more than 100 cosmetic items have been added to the game, including eleven winter-themed skins. McCree plays an Ebeneezer Scrooge look-alike, with his belt changed to an abbreviated “Greedy Ass Motherfucker,” or GAMF. Yeti Winston is solid gold, Torbjorn is obviously Santa, and nutcracker Zenyatta is probably the best skin the hero has ever gotten, since it turns his orbs into walnuts. Even the duller recolors seem more tasteful this time—just take a look at a few of these beauties:

I’m only a little disappointed Junkrat’s head hasn’t become a lit menorah or something. Just like the previous event, Overwatch players will have to unlock these items by opening loot boxes or dropping some credits during the event. Afterwards, the skins will no longer be available to buy, so make sure to ignore your family in the coming days.

There’s also a holiday-themed Brawl, though it doesn’t look anywhere near as involved as Junkenstein’s Revenge from Halloween. This one is a snowball fight between Meis, with ammo refillable at snowdrifts scattered around the map. You can watch the announcement video below.
