Finding the girl of your dreams is hard. In a dating simulator, it’s arguably even harder (well, actually not). In my personal experience, I usually opt for the girl with the cutest style, or the cutest hair. That probably sounds extraordinarily shallow. And sure, not every cute girl is a winner in the romance game genre, but still, I guess I just go with my gut is all. In a new VR dating sim fresh out of an exhibition at Tokyo Game Show, you don’t get to choose the girl, though. The VR goggles choose for you.
Reestablishing the age-old narrative of love at first sight
Using a “sensibility grasp algorithm,” Noha Love Checker (also known as Brainwave Love Checker) determines what romantic gal you’ll take on a virtual date. The VR headset that the user wears is accompanied by sensors that measure brainwaves. Once you’re introduced by the Noha Love Checker’s host of bachelorettes, the sensors measure your mental activity in order to decide which lady is most right for you. Then, without further ado, you’re on a date with the woman of your brain’s dreams. Just, you had no actual say in it is all.
Noha Love Checker’s sensors and algorithm analyze the brain and how you’re feeling, such as if you’re excited when faced with a particular girl. It’s kind of weird. If anything, it reestablishes the age-old narrative of love at first sight. Walking into a room, planting on your eyes on that special someone, and knowing that they are IT. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced that, nor have most people. If anything, my current long-term relationship spawned more from a First Talk, a conversation we shared about the dumb movies we enjoyed, like Airplane! (1980).
Whether love at first sight is real or not, attraction at first sight is far more realistic. With Noha Love Checker, attraction is the primary focus. I mean, it’s the basis of how I personally play love simulators. And really, who doesn’t get a bit nervous and anxious when an attractive person stands in front of them? That’s essentially what Noha Love Checker measures, and that’s why it might be the most accurate attraction-seeking simulator of all-time.
